Sfter graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree, Vinod's interests in the food and hospitality industry led him to join the Institute of Hotel Management. He completed his apprenticeship with the Oberoi Intercontinental Hotel in New Delhi and the Movenpick Restaurants in West Germany, where he worked as a Commis Patissier. Coming to Canada, Vinod joined the Constellation Hotel in Toronto as a pastry chef. He subsequently worked at the prestigious Petroleum Club, Hotel MacDonald and the Four Seasons Sheraton Hotel in Edmonton as well as at the Jasper Park Lodge.

For the past ten years, Vinod has been an instructor in the Culinary Arts Department of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. In the Spring of 2001 Vinod became Program Head of Baking & Apprentice Baking at NAIT.

Vinod is an active member in the Edmonton branch of the Canadian Federation of Chefs and Cooks, which selected him as the local 1996 Chef of the Year.

As a coach of Student Culinary Team Alberta, Vinod led his team to capture two gold medals at the World Culinary Cup in Luxembourg in November 1994. At the 1996 World Culinary Olympics in Berlin, his students ranked seventh overall in competition with the professional teams and at the 2000 World Culinary Olympics the student team competed against professionals, won Gold and were ranked fourth overall.

In 1996, Vinod was selected as Assistant Manager of Culinary Team Canada, taking on the critical, patience-testing responsibility of handling logistics for all of the competitions. In addition, his contribution in 1997 as a Support member assisted the team in its world Championship win at 1997 ScotHot held in Glasgow, Scotland.
