Culinary Team Canada members were given the mandate by the Canadian Federation of Chefs and Cooks in 1996 to form and compete as Canada's national culinary team from 1997 to 2001.

The first order of business for the newly appointed Culinary Team Canada was to develop a mission statement and set of commitments that would guide and govern the Team and its members during their tenure.

 

Mission Statement
Culinary Team Canada will maintain and foster, through its activities, a vigorous and dynamic presence in both the national and international culinary arenas to the benefit of its supporters and Canadian products. It will cultivate a national gold medal-ranked team to compete at the Erfurt World Culinary Olympics in 2000, and will ensure that Canada, through its chefs and hospitality industry, perpetuates its international reputation for excellence.
